Ill Blu is a production duo that formed late 2007. Made up of 2 producers Def1 and Jreel. They are long time friends from North West London who both share a passion for music. Together they create House, Hip Hop and RnB. While working together on a Hip Hop Album for group G*Fam, these two young men stumbled on a unique sound (UK Funky) working with Princess Nyah and in 2008, Frontline was born that put them all on the map. The Funky House track quickly gained momentum on the underground receiving regular plays on London pirate radio stations and throughout the club scene, inevitably aiding its transition to main stage radio. Having major support from the specialist DJ's on Radio1, Kiss FM, and Galaxy to name a few, this track is defiantly one of the biggest for Summer 2009. With this success, Ill Blu steadily began to create a name for them and was offered remix work for tracks such as Shystie's “Pull It”, MJ Cole's “I Gotta Have It” and Donaeo “Watching Her Move”. Def1’s boastings of musical influences from the Jungle era, fused with a heavy passion for hip hop, fueled his talents in creating dynamic drums that compliment Jreel's musical influences of Gospel, R'n'B and Hip Hop. Jreel has an ear for great chords and his musical trained background gives him an edge in making music over just making beats. Describing there sound as a table, polished with rough edges. Ill Blu continued throughout 2009 producing an album for Princess Nyah “Diary of a Princess” which was released October 2009. Summer 2009 saw Blu Magic an instrumental, causing a stir on the party islands and had the likes of BBK, Marcus Nasty and DJ Cameo giving it regular spins. There remix catalogue increases and soon they become the go to guy's for that relevant remix. Ill Blu are now getting stuck into their production and djing, while continuing to concentrate on expanding and developing their sound.
