Sei A - 'Play On My Mind' Beatportal Track Of The Day
Glasgow-based Sei A (aka Andy Graham) has been putting out some of the fresher and more invigorating techno I’ve heard lately. Recent works on Tiga’s Turbo Recordings, Tronicsole, and Soma are further evidence of his current fine form. His latest two-track release, ”Speicher 71,” was released this Monday on Michael Mayer’s Kompakt label. After hearing its b-side, ”Play My Mind,” played out a number of times over the weekend, it’s quickly become my Track Of The Day. A metallic-coated (or should I say “armored") techno grinder, its pacey techno shuffle is punctuated by hefty, big-system fills to keep things building. The dubby stabs introduced in the break combine with some druggy vox to create a (2 am) moment of sustained (and distinctly trippy) anticipation, holding back the intensity before all is once again let loose as the track swings back into its fifth gear groove. I expect “Play My Mind” will find its way into a number of sets at next month’s Sonar festival. Please your ears here. |
